Hi, i've just acquired an ipad 3 (wifi only) as a gift and am looking at downloading the mudmap ipad app. My question is, can i get a gps signal on my wifi only ipad through my iphone by turning on the Personal Hotspot?

Hi Ross, thanks for getting in touch with us. Unfortunately, Wifi only models of iPad do not have build in GPS receivers so the hardware does not have the ability to locate your position.

For apps like Mud Map, we strongly recommend hardware that support GPS. So here are 2 options.

    1. Exchange for a Cellular+Wifi model iPad that has built in GPS.
    2. Use an external GPS receiver like this Bad Elf GPS that adds GPS capabilities to iOS devices.

If you have other questions, just give me a shout any time.
